As of 1 June 2020, government offices, public transportation and construction Activities can re-open, following safe distance practices.

As of 16 June, hotels can open, with maximum occupancy rules, plus a variety of new safety measures in place.  Restaurants will be allowed to re-open with new protocols and safe distance requirements.  Bars will not be able to open unless they are serving food.  Sport Fishing Activities can resume with limited numbers allowed on each boat.

As of June 22, Businesses such as tourist activities can re-open following the new protocols.  Water activities (including sunset tours, snorkeling tours, waverunners, etc. will have limited capacities on each activity.

Super Markets, Mini Markets, Pharmacies, Hospitals, Gas Stations and essential businesses can remain open following strict sanitary practices.

Information for Travelers to Mexico

Before you travel: Get tested with a viral test 1–3 days before your trip. Do not travel if you are waiting for test results, test positive, or are sick. Follow all entry requirements for your destination and provide any required or requested health information.

During travel: Follow local guidelines, wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from people who are not traveling with you, wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer, and watch your health for signs of illness.

Before traveling back to the United States: Get tested with a viral test 1–3 days before travel. Follow destination and airline recommendations or requirements.

Los Cabos COVID-19 FAQs

Q: Is there Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Cabo San Lucas?
A: Yes.  Los Cabos has been lucky to have a very low infection rate of the COVID-19 Virus, due to a number of factors including Population Density and climate amongst others.  While infection rates are low, there is always a risk of bringing it with you or catching it during your travels (like any other virus).  Los Cabos has implemented an variety of new protocols to decrease the risk even further.

Q: Is it safe to visit Los Cabos right now during the Coronavirus Pandemic?
A: If there is a chance you are infected, please don’t travel.  Los Cabos is working very hard to keep our residents and tourists safe, with the implementation of certifications and hygeine protocols.  The warm weather and Sunshine we enjoy in Cabo San Lucas is a natural deterrant to Flu Viruses which certainly helps.  All businesses in Los Cabos must be certified by the health authorities with the implementation of the new strict health protocols before they will be allowed to to reopen.

Cabo takes your health and safety very seriously.

Q: Will I need to wear a mask while I’m in Cabo?
A: The rules are changing regularly and this depends on where you choose to go during your trip.  Typically outdoors, you can enjoy the fresh Cabo Air mask free however some locations will require a mask in outdoor areas also.  In Supermarkets, Big Box Stores, restaurants and most indoor locations you will be required to use a mask.  You may be requested to put a mask on when entering a stores or other areas, so it’s a good idea to have one on you at all times..

You will note that the majority of people working in direct contact with the public will be using Masks.  As always, Masks and Gloves will typically be used by anyone handling food.

You may be asked to wear a mask on the airplane or in airports depending on the individual airline regulations.

Many locations are now operating Cash Free to avoid the constant movement of bills and coins.  Credit Cards, Debit cards and Gift Cards are the preferred form of payment currently.

Q: Is hand sanitizer available in Los Cabos?
A: Yes.  Under the new sanitary protocols, all businesses will be required to provide hand sanitizer.  They will typically also provide sanitizer in your hotel room.

Although hand sanitizer is available, it’s still better for your skin to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water instead of using sanitizer if possible.

Q: Is the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) Open?
A: The Los Cabos Airport (SJD) is Open!

Q: Are airport transfers running?
A: Yes. Private services are highly recommended, however shared shuttles are available.  You will need to book them at least 24 hours in advance so that we can prepare them for your arrival.

Q: Does the US/Canada have travel restrictions for travel to Mexico?
A: No. Airlines have been flying between the US and Mexico continuously. However, due to low demand, many routes have been temporarily dropped by the airlines.

As of 26 January 2021, new CDC rules take effect for flights to the United States.  Proof of PCR or Viral testing will be required before boarding your flight.

Mandatory PCR testing is required for anyone boarding planes to Canada.  Additionally some provinces do have restrictiones on your return, where you may have to Self Quarantine for 14 days.  Please check your local Travel restrictions.

NOTE: There are restrictions on land border crossings.  These rules are changing constantly.  Please check with your local authority.
Los Cabos Hotels

Q: Are hotels in Cabo San Lucas and the Los Cabos currently open?
A: Hotels in Los Cabos are open for business, with limited occupancy.  More space will be required between pool seating, restaurant seating and other public  areas.  New rules and regulations have been put into effect.  Pleae check with your hotel for the latests rules/guidelines.

Q: Are other Vacation rentals in open in Cabo?
A: Rental Villas, Air BnB, vacation rentals are all available.  Please note that many Air BnB properties located in gated communities may still have restrictions put in place by the development, such as Access to Pools, Gyms and Common Areas.

Q: Will all the facilities at my hotel be available like normal?
A: Each Hotel has their own protocols.  Limited services may be available at some hotels.  With Lower occupancy requirements, hotels are typically not opening all restaurants and bars, plus many are offering a limited menu until occupancy rates can improve.  Expanded health protocols will be in place for the safety and health of both you and the hotel employees.

Q: Will my hotel be enforcing social distancing?
A: Yes.  Hotels will be opening a small percentage of their available rooms.  Pool areas, restaurants and other social gathering locations will have maximum group sizes and will be setup to provide at least 6 ft between groups.

Los Cabos Tours & Activities

Q: Are we open?
A: Yes. We are working remotely and available 7 days a week. We are accepting bookings for all our activities.

Q: Will all your tours and activities be running when I arrive?
A: Yes. However due to reduced volume, we strongly recommend to book well in advance of your tour date.

Some tours that normally operate on a shared basis may be offered only on a private basis if demand isn’t there, but most likely everything will be available, we just ask that you be flexible and patient in consideration of the situation.

Q: Will I be able to go snorkeling or go on a boat tour while I’m in Cabo?
A: Yes. All tours will be running as normal just with less people on each tour.

Q: Are golf courses in Cabo San Lucas open?
A: Yes!  New protocols have been set in place, including sanitisation of cars, no sharing of carts (except with family members/travel companions), flags to remain in the hole, etc.

Q: Can I cancel and get a refund if I can’t visit due to Coronavirus?
A: Yes. We hope you will be able to change your date, in which case this is always free of charge. If not, then yes if COVID-19 disrupts your vacation plans you can cancel and receive a refund.

Q: Will I be able to bring a group or plan an event in Cabo this summer?
A: Yes. Cabo has special protocols in place to be able to accommodate groups and events such as weddings, including group tours and activities. Contact Us to help you set up your event.

Q: Will the Bisbee’s Fishing Tournament still be held?
A: Yes. The Bisbee’s is still planned for October 14-17 (Los Cabos Offshore) & October 19-23 (Bisbee Black & Blue).

Dining Out

Q: What is the status on restaurants and bars in Cabo San Lucas?
A: Currently Most Restaurants are open with limited seating capacity.  New hygiene protocols have been setup including temperature checks, Face masks, and QR Codes for menus.  Additional distance is also required between tables.

Pre Return Flight Testing

Los Cabos is working hard to ensure Pre-Flight testing is easy and reasonabley priced.

Many hotels will be offering onsite testing.  All local Hospitals/clinics offer testing and the government is working to setup testing stations downtown Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo to ensure fast service.

Golf in Los Cabos

All Golf Courses were temporarily closed in Los Cabos due to the COVID-19 situation.

The Governor of Baja California Sur allowed Recreational Activities to Re-Open as of 16 June.

Some courses will remain closed for maintenance until further notice.

We're Back! Los Cabos is Open For Business

Los Cabos Tours and Activities will be re-opening on 15 June, with limited numbers and a variety of new sanitary conditions.

These have been trying times for everybody, and Los Cabos remained strong throughout.  We have worked hard to maintain a safe community and to provide safer conditions for all our visitors.  Los Cabos will continue to work hard to ensure you have the best time possible on your next Trip.
