La Paz – The Capital of Baja California Sur
La Paz (B.C.S. Mexico) is just a short 2 hour drive (less if you’re willing to risk life and limb on the highway) from Cabo San Lucas, yet many of our tourists have never been. With so many amazing Things to do in La Paz, it’s definitely worth at least one visit.
Although the city of La Paz doesn’t really have a beautiful old town, or spectacular monuments, there are a few interesting features to visit. The area surrounding La Paz however, is pretty Magical.
La Paz offers some of the best beaches in Mexico, with Balandra Beach (amongst others) being the perfect spot for people of all ages to relax in the calm shallow waters of the bay.
The La Paz Malecon is a wonderful place that gives you the opportunity to stroll for a number of kilometers on the waters edge, allowing you to get your days exercise in. There is plenty of room for runners, bikers, rollerblading and more on this wide Malecon area.
The surrounding waters offer a safe haven to some fascinating creatures. Whether you are a Diver or a Snorkeler, you will be sure to enjoy what La Paz has to offer. Head out into the bay from October to May and you will surely find some of the world most amazing creatures (the Whale Sharks) cruising or feeding in the shallow waters. Take the opportunity to Swim with the Whale Sharks, as there are few places around the world that this is possible.
During the summer months, hop aboard a boat for a day trip to Espiritu Santos Island, where you will find an untouched haven for animals, plus the opportunity to swim with some friendly Sea Lions and enjoy unspoiled beaches.
La Paz has much to see and do all year round and is well worth the trip up there.
